Funeral Flowers
Families can usually order funeral flowers in one of several ways.
Many times you can have the funeral director place the order with a local florist and have it included on the funeral home bill. He will take your preferences on color, variety, size and price and work with the florist. Then they can coordinate times and delivery.
Another choice is for you to go directly to the flower shop yourself. The florist usually has a book on hand with pictures of funeral arrangements. This can give you an idea of what choices and possibilities are available. You do not have to order exactly what you see in the book. This can be a jumping off point, a place to start from. Discuss what colors and types of flowers you want. They can tell you what is in season. Don’t forget to discuss price so that you know what to expect. Make sure they know the place and time for delivery!
If you live some distance away you might want to order through Teleflora. They have a variety of arrangement options.
Often families will coordinate the bouquets for color and style. This can harmonize the flowers around the casket nicely.
Casket Sprays are usually reserved for the immediate family, often the spouse.
Adult children often order corresponding arrangements that will go on either side of the casket.
A pillow arrangement is given by immediate family, usually a child or grandchild. This is a small silk pillow that is adorned with silk or fresh flowers and set within the casket.
It is suitable for anyone to give the following:
- Wreaths and specialty arrangements-
Stand on easel
- Funeral Baskets-
Sit on floor or placed on stand
- Green and Blooming Plants-
Sit on floor or placed on stand
